As we assess general risk to any facility, one area of consideration is prevention and response to an active threat against a facility by a person intending to do bodily harm to others.

When we assess this area, we frequently find companies, schools, hospitals, and other organizations or persons are unsure of what to do in case of 'person with a gun' incident.

From that we can document the facility risks, provide solutions, train staff, and assist with creating a program for your facility that makes sure you can identify threat indicators before they turn into something more, and respond in the instance that they do.

When considering this program, please keep the following FBI statistics in mind:

• ​Between year 2000 and 2017, 250 Active Shooter incidents were recorded as occurring in the United States.

• 799 persons were killed in these incidents (not including the shooter).

• 1418 persons were wounded in these incidents (not including the shooter).

Where did these incidents occur:

​

• 20% in educational facilities.

• 42% in the commerce industry.

• 4% in houses of worship.

• 4% in the healthcare industry.
